Light

cut sharply, your face
by light from a mesh
installed before the conquest

moves into a conversation, your
fingers and lips
reminiscing the trip

doves that carried water, swords
that broke families; arrows
piercing through books

age, your wrinkled forehead
the woman in you now sucked
into a memory, dying
with the light that dims the past
